Hey, where you been?
Leave me alone, I don't need you
No, come back, meet me in my room, now
Hey, where you been?
Hey, where you been?
I'm burning out like a smoke on the pavement
I'll grab my things while you make your statements
I'll take my time to think once I've had enough
Did they take it away, or did I give it up?
Your short sight won't keep me from thinking ahead
Or did I give it up?
Maybe I gave it up
I think I gave it up
Why did I give it up?

All These Words

I've been feeling bitter about things I can't change
Dad didn't raise no quitter, so for now, I'll stay
But maybe you could be a little more altruistic
And maybe I could try to see things from your side
I'm on your side
Hold on to nothing
See how they lie?
Throw out your caution
Time passed me by
I've been weaning off of pacifiers
She says I've gotta learn how to be the lone man before I get burned
But you don't wanna see that we're just trying to help out
But all these words can only fall on deaf ears for so long
Everyone's wrong sometimes
Hold on to nothing
See how they lie?
Throw out your caution
Time passed me by

Hold me down, I feel it all around
And we could talk it out, but honey, it don't work like that
And I'm sick as hell of this silent sound
But I got tired, so maybe I'm the one in the wrong
Wasted time, you're wasting all of my time
Tell everyone I got what I came for
I'll be back some day to pay for it, but it's mine
I don't mean to sound so hateful
I'm impatient now, I can't wait for it
Goodbye
So keep your head now, I know that you can do it
Just never thought you'd be the first to go
They say that time tells, but what if I can't hear it?
Just never thought that you could feel so low
And high at the same time, my mind's stuck in overdrive
Alone in this cold room is where I feel at home
Tell everyone I got what I came for
I'll be back some day to pay for it, but it's mine
I don't mean to sound so hateful
I'm impatient now, I can't wait for it
Goodbye
We started out warm, but this is it
I'll bring the wood and flint, you breathe oxygen
And if you feel cold when it's all told, well then
Maybe you need to ask yourself if your heart is still in this
Tell everyone I got what I came for
I'll be back some day to pay for it, but it's mine
I don't mean to sound so hateful
I'm impatient now, I can't wait for it
Goodbye

Burnout Man

I remember folding back when I was 17
I heard it's worse when you hit 23
Visions of gold exchanged for feet of lead
But you can recycle the drugs if you just stand on your head
A whiskey & coke, with your old man fronting the bill
You're good to go, but he's been feeling oh so ill
And his age shows when he stops to catch his breath
Then he says, "Son, nobody burns out like me
And nobody works it out like me
And I've seen my share of days, worse days than you could tolerate
You think you've got it bad, kid?"
Well, growing up, that's something to cry about
When these bones bend, they creak
I wonder if my peak lies somewhere now behind?
Watch as I fade to grey, cos if I can be frank with you,
I'm so tired of this fight
I think I've lost potential
